Feldversuche Dialoge 2026

From end of September until end of December, Feldversuche Dialoge exhibition will present two works by Melanie Ender and Hans Schabus. The works were created on the grounds of the Kleine Stadtfarm, Austria’s largest urban farming project, exploring the themes of “Danube Traffic” and “Soil Under Pressure.”

As part of the Feldversuche Dialoge, the artists Melanie Ender and Hans Schabus developed two site-specific works that explore the themes of transportation and soil at the intersection of food systems, natural spaces, and urban development.
The Kleine Stadtfarm offers an ideal setting to engage in such topics: Located on the site of Vienna’s first organic farm and between the Donauauen National Park, agricultural land, and new urban development areas, it serves as a hub for addressing issues related to socially and ecologically sustainable urban development. The community farm consists of 20 socio-ecological initiatives: community gardens, urban agriculture, social and educational projects, animal-assisted pedagogy, art studios, mushroom farming, farm stands, and much more.
During the exhibition’s opening days, there will be guided tours, conversations with the artists and curators, and a cozy get-together surrounded by fields, horses, llamas, single-family homes, and the sounds of the highway, trees, and oil tanker trains. The works will remain on display at the Kleine Stadtfarm until 20.12. and can be viewed as part of regular guided tours.
