The “Hochhaus” at Herrengasse 6-8, in the first district (and heart) of the city, is a highly significant element in the topography of the symbolic. The ‘cosmopolitan’ tower reflects stylistic influences from East Asia, the Bauhaus movement and the Assyrian ziggurat, crossroads of heaven and earth, with its terraces of conical steps visible only from aerial photographs or from one of the inner courtyards. Like any rising building, the skyscraper evokes the cosmological symbols of all times and the urban transformations that have taken place in post-war cities.
On Thursday, 27 March 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Friday, 28 March 2025, from 12 to 9 p.m., the second edition of the Salon of Contemporary Art Devotion Rome-Vienna will take place in an apartment on the eighth floor of the skyscraper at Herrengasse 6-8: under the title “ZIGGURAT”, more than forty artists with different sensibilities will reflect on the city’s first skyscraper, on the symbols of the landscape and the temporality of dynamic forms, matter and memory, space and body. The Ziggurat art salon is our temple of contemporary art or art congress in times of war #ziggurat #artsalom
