Abigail Solomon-Godeau ist Professorin Emerita in Kunstgeschichte, University of California, und Autorin von Photography at the Dock: Essays on Photographic Histories, Institutions, and Practices (1991), Male Trouble: A Crisis in Representation (1997) und Rosemary Laing (2010).
Ihre Essays über Fotografie, Kunstgeschichte, zeitgenössische Kunst und Feminismus werden weitgehend anthologisiert. Momentan arbeitet sie an zwei Büchern, The Face of Difference: Gender and Genre in Photography und Art Photography in the Age of Catastrophe.
