What makes me feel safe?

Workshop with artist Baptist Coelho Rahmenprogramm Blutregen | In englischer Sprache
Teil der Reihe: Mal was anderes …

What makes me feel safe? is a new participatory workshop inspired by the performance Five Layers, One Body, realized by the artist Baptist Coelho during the opening of the exhibition Raining Blood: Photography & Arms Trafficking and the resulting artwork Anatomy of Protection, both of which explore the five protective layers of a bulletproof vest. Rather than focusing only on physical protection, the workshop invites children, adults, and families to think about the different things that make them feel safe in everyday life. This can include emotional, personal, cultural, social, and material forms of safety.

Participants are invited to bring a piece of fabric or material that makes them feel safe, protected, comforted, or connected.

These personal materials will become part of a collaborative artwork, showing how different experiences of safety can come together to form a collective story. The workshop combines conversation, reflection, and hands-on making. It encourages participants to explore the visible and invisible “layers” that help us feel safe and navigate the world.

About the artist: Baptist Coelho explores unspoken stories shaped by war and conflict through diverse media. He has exhibited, performed, and screened his work at museums and galleries worldwide. Baptist has received awards, participated in various artist residencies, and conducted public workshops across Asia, Europe, UK, South Africa, and UAE. Born in Mumbai, India, he currently lives and works between Paris and Ypres. www.baptistcoelho.com
