Vittoria Totale: Solo Voce

Solo Voce is a performative declination of an ongoing research project on voice in sound and voice as sound by Vittoria Totale. Immersed in the practices of sound poetry and oral storytelling—at the core of which lie repetition, variations of interpretation and the subsequent reshufflement of meaning—the spoken performance presents voice as a spatial and imaginative tool. Through manipulations of volume, tone and layering, Vittoria creates onomatopoeic and loopy plateaux on which the listener can freely glide, letting go of the urge to translate to let the words speak for themselves.

Solo Voce is the debut album of Vittoria Totale, released on Recital in 2024.

The performance is part of the Independent Space Index Festival 2025.
A sound installation and a series of poetic traces across the space will be found throughout the opening days of the festival and activated during the performance.

Solo Voce is part of the Intermezzo series. Conceived to happen between shows, Intermezzo enhances the exhibition program of KUNSTVEREIN GARTENHAUS with performative interventions circling around sound, spoken word, dance and movement. The series is conceived by Lewon Heublein.
