Unparallel exhibition opening on Friday, October 9, 2026, starting at 8 PM, with a live music performance by Orwa Saleh

The exhibition showcases 13 art projects by 13 artists from various backgrounds and practices, tackling the question:

Can parallel lines intersect?

Organized by a team of artists and cultural workers, including members of its staff, Speisen ohne Grenzen transforms its space, aiming to “unparallel” art and the traditional gastronomy experience. After launching a call for entries in July 2026, the organizational process aimed at transforming the curation process into a collective one, where artists connected, interacted and took part in translating their feelings and thoughts to the artistic encounter with the audience.

Participating artists:

Balsam Abo Zour, Caroline Rosa, Farah Awada, Hamada Elrassam, Karin Gruber, Ilona Abdelfattah, Marc Abou Jaoude, Maryline al Hayek, Nabila Irshaid, Nour Huda, Reine Chahine, Toqa Issa, and Yana Kislykh.

About the artworks:

Using different media, photography, painting, textile work, multimedia and wall art, the artists navigate through reflections and stories drawn from personal and collective experiences, shaped by intense questions of choice and accident, borders and belonging, nostalgia and identity, uprising and oppression, war and safety, the politics of the body and patriarchy, heritage and technology, loneliness and togetherness, the intimate and the public, and personal grief and loss.

About Unparallel:

This exhibition is the first of a series of social, cultural and artistic activities and projects. Established in collaboration with Speisen ohne Grenzen, Unparallel aims to keep exploring tools and processes with decentralized reach and decision-making to allow more participation of the audience and creators at various levels of the production process. The tools include visual storytelling and participatory creation, while the processes include training, calls for entries and organizing collaborations. It aims to facilitate and offer inclusion for the audience, creators and organizers at the various phases and provide a suitable platform to augment the outcomes.

Organizational team: Cornelia Kraft, Gabriel Zirm, Ibrahim Dirani, and Renate Woditschka.

Exhibition continues until January 23, 2027 and will coincide with Speisen ohne Grenzen’s 8th anniversary.
