Tayla Myree: Queering Black Representation in European Art

This lecture will explore the ways in which Black people have been represented within the European Art Historical cannon and question the ways in which gender and sexuality are commented on at it’s intersection of racialization.
Tayla Myree (she/they) is a multi-disciplinary artist, poet, and historian based in Vienna, Austria. Their work deals with the politics of memory and identity, which they explore through the mediums of film, photography, prose, and sound. Tayla currently holds a Master’s Degree in Comparative History from Central European University and is a part of the Video and Video Installation Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
