Culture Stan – Impressions of Central Asia
The OPEN SPACE at the Weltmuseum Wien provides a venue for projects, encounters, and communities. In the Spotlightseries, artists and creative diaspora communities from Vienna introduce themselves, engage in conversation, and forge new connections.
For the first Spotlight event on the 30th of August, Dariya Termikhan, Artist in Residence at the MuseumsQuartier in cooperation with Almaty Museum of Art, invites you to spend an afternoon with Vienna’s Central Asian community. Together with fellow artists, she presents poetry, music and videos from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other parts of Central Asia.
The Kazakh artist Dariya Temirkhan is spending two months in Vienna as part of the Trans-Stans project, a collaboration between the Weltmuseum Wien and the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA).

Curated and accompanied by Vera Marušić und Muhammet Ali Baş, curators of the OPEN SPACE und Tobias Mörike, Curator Collection North Africa, West and Central Asia, Siberia
The event is open and free of charge and aimed at everyone interested in the history and contemporary art of Central Asia.
