SPLOT,
eine Ausstellung von * an exhibition by Zosia Hołubowska
SPLOT (Polish: braid, plait, entanglement) is a solo exhibition by Zosia Hołubowska that resists the notion of singular authorship in favor of an evolving ecosystem of collaboration, exchange, and mutual influence. Holubowska’s primary medium has been sound; however, in this case, they will show a new body of work based on crocheted structures and sculptures. It is the first time they will show this side of their practice.
Through immersive, polyphonic narratives, the exhibition braids issues that Hołubowska has been researching: symbiotic systems, embodied archives, and the healing potential of music. What connects these themes is the artist’s perspective, rooted in queer experience and post-imperialist, intersectional feminism. Hołubowska finds connections between more-than-human intelligence and somatic memories, between communal approaches to music and queer ecology, and expresses these commonalities through art that is tactile and visceral; through soundscapes and objects echoing traditional crafts.
Drawing on more-than-human perspectives, genetic and collective memory, and speculative storytelling, Holubowska engages with re-reading, inhabiting, and transforming the archival into a plastic yet fragile space of connection.
The exhibition is curated by Claudia Strate.
This exhibition is part of kuntsverein’s yearly programm 2026, generously supported by the City of Vienna. The exhibition takes place in the association’s project space 8BR1 (Weiglgasse 8/B1/R1, 1150 Vienna), located in the Holzbauer Gemeindebau in the 15th district in Vienna. The space is not barrier free.
