Sound Atlas reimagines the space as a tactile field where components of THEFENCE — invite direct touch.
Clemens Poole and Pake transform sounds, mimicking living reeds and tires into resonant synths; Pake’s original tape recorder from 1973 is the key element in this process. Kyivpastrans loops echo drone-buzzed sound compositions, their low-fi textures mingling with every movement.
Here, architecture without architects becomes music without musicians: heritage meets emergency improvisation as visitors activate signals of care and resistance through movement.
The drumbeat is the oldest vernacular—the rhythm that unified workers in the fields during harvest, synchronizing bodies in collective labor. Music of protest and unification carries this ancient pulse: the sound of people moving together, building together, defending together. Like the fence that marks “this is mine, this is ours,” rhythm marks presence, solidarity, refusal – performed by Bögdana Ko$mina.
In wars, the most tender act—building—becomes the most urgent, the most political. Touch
to listen; move to compose; let shared presence turn debris into common home.
THEFENCE: Vernacular Hardcore – support rebuilding efforts by local communities through the horizontal power of unification — heritage meeting emergency, one gesture at a time, by Dr. Inna Budzynska & Andriy Igorovich.
