Solo exhibition of miki-mike 665
An exhibition exploring memory, migration, and modern folklore through naive and street-based practices.
Ponyleben takes its title from the German proverb “Leben ist kein Ponyhof” — “Life is no fairy tale,” a phrase that reflects the harsh reality of war and the experience of being a refugee. In this exhibition, the proverb is reversed and reimagined. Ponyleben becomes a counter-statement: optimistic, life-affirming, and deeply personal — a vision of the best possible, almost fairy-tale life.
The exhibition brings together works from the last four years, mostly produced in Vienna, across video, books, zines, paintings, objects, and film. It includes Index Photo: Julia, Scratchers of the Tuff Caves, two alphabets (Russian Colonial Alphabet and German Refugee Alphabet), books such as Vulva Union and Euro-Penis, works made from chewing gum and recycled materials, engravings on glass and everyday objects, and the presentation of my new book, Notes about Bedouin Graffiti.
