Exhibition
Daily Drawings by David Böhm

Since 2011, Prague-based artist David Böhm has produced daily drawings as a way of capturing snapshots of his impressions and ideas. His works depict talking heads in the style of a graphic novel, often combining image and text in a witty interplay. We have selected some of Böhm’s most characteristic daily drawings for exhibition at the IWM, which will be presented as large-format digital color prints on the staircase of the Institute. The exhibition will be unveiled on 14 September in the presence of the artist, with opening remarks by IWM Permanent Fellow Ludger Hagedorn, followed by a reception with wine and cheese.

David Böhm (born 1982) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he completed his doctoral program in 2021 and where he has led the Graphics I studio since 2022. Böhm has received a number of prestigious awards for his work and is also a renowned author of graphic novels and illustrated educational books. In 2025, he was invited to present his exhibition “NOW!” as part of the IWM’s festival Vienna Meets Prague.

This event is part of the Month of Ideas, organized for the first time this year by the Institute for Human Sciences. It is dedicated to critical reflection, candid and open discussion, and, above all, the exploration of new perspectives. We are grateful to our donors and supporters who made this month possible, most notably the City of Vienna, ERSTE Foundation, the Open Society Foundations, and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
