Hylut is a solo project by Lithuanian artist and composer Marija Jociūtė. Through processes of deconstruction, manipulation, and recontextualization of various types of data and sound sources, she explores the potential of auditory and narrative story telling. Hylut weaves together signals of synthesizers, pulses of rhythm machines, digital alterations as well as vocal elements to create organically morphing sound compositions.

Marija Jociūtė holds a Master’s degree in Photography and Media Art at the Academy of Arts in Vilnius. Since 2023 she has been studying at the Music and Performing Arts University in Vienna – electroacoustic and experimental music. While developing her own practice as an artist and composer, she also collaborates with choreographers, film-makers and musicians.
