KUNSTVEREIN GARTENHAUS is pleased to invite you on Saturday the 28th of February 2026 at 19.30 to Julian Siffert’s new performance X is a letter, whose lines meet where we meet again, as part of the INTERMEZZO program.

Revolving around the escapist power of fantasy, X is a letter, whose lines meet where we meet again unfolds through introverted and closed-off gestures, evoking states of withdrawal. The performance explores the double meaning of whistling and humming as both inward, self-performative sonic practices and modes of communication. Set within a spatial installation, the work seeks for music to be an ambivalent invitation to hallucinate about it, in which sounds appear both as themselves and as vessels for imagining other places.

X is a letter, whose lines meet where we meet again is part of the INTERMEZZO series. Conceived to happen between shows, INTERMEZZO enhances the exhibition program of KUNSTVEREIN GARTENHAUS with performative interventions circling around sound, spoken word, dance and movement. The series is conceived by Lewon Heublein.

Julian Siffert
Julian Siffert (*1993) is an artist and composer based in Vienna. His practice is an attempt to find temporary orientation in the world, a form of navigating that traces the materiality and internal logic of the things encountered within it. He employs a range of strategies that culminate in performances, text and music, sculptures, installations, site-specific interventions, as well as curatorial projects.
