I Sing The Body Electric is a music theatre piece which celebrates the velocity and messiness of life and death. It follows our protagonist from birth to death, with the energy and spirit of life grasped, grappled with and victoriously lived from birth til the end, in whatever way that may mean. Engaging with modern theatre practices, it is a piece that uses deconstruction and improvisation as a means to create a unique approach to music theatre. Inspired by a Charles Bukowski poem, and the poet himself, with a nod to the little known play The Theatre of the Soul by Nikolai Evreinov, I Sing The Body Electric is a musically improvised music theatre performance, written and directed by Claire Blake.
