Falema Project is a vienna based diasporic initiative in support of and solidarity with
queers affected by anti-LGBTQI* violence in Senegal.
In response to the tightening of anti-queer laws earlier this year—and the resulting waves of arrests and surge in violence— Falema project stands in solidarity with those affected. The screening series Falema Projections forms part of its activities and aims to foster engagement, raise awareness, while the event’s proceeds will go to an organization in Dakar that supports detained and persecuted queer individuals with legal fees and essential daily needs.
Falema Projections -part one: fairy tales of resistance and survival takes place on
August 23rd from 18.30 at Breitenseer Lichtspiele.
The screening holds the Austrian Premiere of “A Black Fairytale”, a collective short film that came together with the Black community in Vienna.
