For the fourth edition of the Never At Home International Residency, we are glad to welcome Elián Stolarsky to Vienna.

Elián was selected through our first public Open Call to spend a month at Funkhaus, where Never At Home is currently based. Her residency culminates in a public presentation on July 4, 4PM - 7PM.

Our sincere thanks to the jury:

Heike Eipeldauer (Curator, mumok)
Günther Oberhollenzer (Artistic Director, Künstlerhaus)
Eva Maria Stadler (Professor, University of Applied Arts Vienna)
Karin Sorger (SHE KNOWS)

As the studio can only host a limited number of people, please RSVP by sending a short email to clara@never-at-home.at.

Elián Stolarsky (Montevideo, 1990) is a visual artist whose work explores the intersections of memory, migration, and inherited trauma. With a practice rooted in installation, printmaking, and digital media, she reinterprets archival materials to build poetic narratives that confront the silent echoes of historical violence. In 2018, she became the youngest artist to hold a solo exhibition at Uruguay’s National Museum of Visual Arts. Her work has been recognized with international awards and residencies, including the Generaciones Prize (2024), and programs at KALA Art Institute, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, and the Cité Internationale des Arts. Based in Spain since 2018, she is currently completing a PhD at the Complutense University of Madrid on the role of art as a tool for healing across generations.

About the residency

Each month, Never At Home invites international visual artists, curators, and writers for a four-week residency at the Funkhaus. The residency supports exchange between artists in Vienna and abroad. It offers space for research, dialogue, and experimentation, with the aim of cultivating connections that may develop into long-term projects.
