Wie prägen Fotos unseren Blick auf die Stadt? Und welche Geschichten lassen sich erzählen, wenn wir historische und aktuelle Perspektiven miteinander verbinden?

Im Collage- und Fotoworkshop mit der Künstlerin Abigail Marcillo gehst du zunächst gemeinsam mit ihr durch die Stadt rund um das Weltmuseum Wien. Dabei richtet ihr den Blick auf Orte, Menschen, Arbeit und alltägliche Situationen, die das Stadtbild prägen. Mit dem Handy haltet ihr Beobachtungen fest und sammelt Bildmaterial für die weitere Arbeit im Workshop.

Anschließend setzt ihr eure Fotos mit Archivmaterialien aus der Sammlung des Weltmuseum Wien in Beziehung. Mithilfe von Collagetechniken entstehen neue Verbindungen zwischen historischen und gegenwärtigen Bildwelten und eigene visuelle Erzählungen.

Dabei stehen auch Fragen im Zentrum: Welche Körper und Arbeitsformen sind im Stadtbild sichtbar? Welche Arbeitsverhältnisse herrschen in unmittelbarer Nähe des Weltmuseum Wien? Und welche visuellen Erzählformen stehen uns zur Verfügung, wenn wir uns kritisch mit urbanen, kulturellen und sozialen Rollen auseinandersetzen?

Der Workshop lädt dazu ein, die Umgebung des Weltmuseum Wien genauer in den Blick zu nehmen und alltägliche Orte, Wege und Arbeitswelten neu wahrzunehmen.

Der Workshop steht allen offen, Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich. Du kannst an einzelnen Terminen oder an mehreren Workshop-Tagen teilnehmen.

Temporalities and Identity with Abigail Marcillo
How do photographs shape the way we see the city? And what stories can emerge when historical and contemporary perspectives are brought into dialogue?

In this collage and photography workshop with artist Abigail Marcillo, you will start by exploring the area surrounding the Weltmuseum Wien together with her. Along the way, you will focus on places, people, work, and everyday situations that shape the urban landscape. Using your smartphone, you will document your observations and collect visual material for the workshop.

Next, you will place your photographs in dialogue with archival materials from the collection of the Weltmuseum Wien. Using collage techniques, you will create new connections between historical and contemporary imagery, developing your own visual narratives.

The workshop also centres on a series of questions: Which bodies and forms of labour are visible in the urban landscape? What working conditions exist in the immediate vicinity of the Weltmuseum Wien? And what visual forms of storytelling are available to us when critically engaging with urban, cultural, and social roles?

The workshop invites participants to take a closer look at the surroundings of Weltmuseum Wien and to discover familiar places, everyday routes, and working environments from new perspectives.

The workshop is open to everyone, and no prior experience is required. You are welcome to attend a single session or participate in several workshop days.
