Miriam Jochmann is a Vienna-based sound artist whose works include improvisations with live electronics, electroacoustic compositions and multimedia installations. Her works explore sound as both a material and a form of conceptual inquiry, beginning with a deep sense of curiosity. She is drawn to the textures of the ordinary – small events, sounds, or gestures – and the stories they might hold or suggest. Her performances are based around improvisations with field recordings, tape, voice and other acoustic instruments, which are further transformed by experimental digital processes and she mostly plays with a multichannel setup. She studied experimental and electroacoustic music (ELAK, mdw) and has presented her works across Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Hungary.
