Contemporary American choreographer, dance educator and performer Christina Tsoules Soriano makes her Austrian debut performing at WUK this summer, featuring her choreographic work, and the choreographic work of fellow American dance artists Amy Love Beasley, Heidi Henderson, and BJ Sullivan.

Christina is an assistant professor of dance at Wake Forest University in North Carolina where she teaches modern dance technique, improvisation, dance composition and dance history. Her work has been featured throughout New England and North Carolina. In addition to her teaching and choreographic work, Christina enjoys teaching dance to people with Parkinson’s Disease. This summer, she is delighted to be teaching a dance history course in Vienna and attending several workshops and performances at Impulstanz.

Christina will perform three new solo works:

Pressure 1 from “Motherhood, the Pressure Series” choreographed by BJ Sullivan that comments on the trials and uncertainties that coincide with being a new mother.

Sad Solo from “Pine” choreographed by Heidi Henderson that investigates a movement vocabulary inherently sad in its focus, set to a new version of Peter Frampton’s hit song “Baby I Love Your Way” by Michael Wall.

Reflections, Christina’s newest solo, an improvised score interpreting her experiences dancing for these choreographers this year.

Also in the performance is the duet Mapping, Part One, choreographed by Christina and Amy Love Beasley, featuring sound collage work by Paul Bright, and featuring two of Christina’s students from Wake Forest University.
