Asta Lynge: Chariot

Chariot is a solo exhibition by Asta Lynge, for which she produced a new sculptural series, as well as a video work. The show is open from Tuesday, April 14 from 2 to 9pm as part of the Klima Biennale Wien. Kevin will host an opening reception with an introduction to the show by the artist and the curators on Thursday, April 16 from 6 to 9pm.

In her artistic practice, the artist explores ideas of progress and technology, considering how objects carry systems of desire, value, and control. Through reworking existing forms, her exhibitions expose hidden power structures and cultural narratives, and highlight how these are shaping contemporary life. With her conceptual approach, Lynge works associatively across materials and processes, opening up the potential of collapsing motifs to understand something new.

Asta Lynge (b. 1988, Denmark; lives and works in Copenhagen) holds a BFA from Central Saints Martins (2012) and was part of the first iteration of the CSM Associate Studio Programme (2013-16). Recent exhibitions include: Cherry Hill (Cologne), Overbeck-Gesellschaft (Lübeck), John Giorno Foundation (New York); Francis Irv (New York); Den Frie (Copenhagen), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), Stockholm School of Economics in assoc. with Coyote (Stockholm), Le Bourgeois (London), Cittipunkt (Berlin), Lagune Ouest (Copenhagen), Cucina (Copenhagen) and dépendance (Brussels). Lynge is the recipient of Anne Marie Carl Nielsen’s talent prize and her work is held in public collections incl. Fulgsang Art Museum, New Carlsberg Foundation, The Danish Art Foundation, Musée D’Elysée and Copenhagen Municipality.

Chariot is accompanied by a story board by artist Daniel West.

The exhibition is part of the Klima Biennale Wien and supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.
