„May Twelfth“ ist zugleich eine Tanzperformance und ein Bandkonzert. Man könnte es auch als ein Konzert aus Liedern und Tänzen verstehen oder als eine Tanzperformance, die sich mit dem Konzept des „Bandseins“ auseinandersetzt.

„May Twelfth“ untersucht die eher konzeptuellen und performativen Elemente der Live-Musikdarbietung. Wie „inszeniert“ sich eine Band? Wie entstehen Intimität, Virtuosität, Scheitern und Kollektivität in einer Konzertsituation? Die Tänze entwickeln sich aus diesen Ideen. Mit einer Hinwendung zum Körperlichen lässt sich das Bewegungsmaterial inspirieren von Rockstars, die sich auf der Bühne austoben, über Interaktionen mit dem Publikum bei Konzerten bis hin zu emotionaleren gemeinsamen Momenten beim Hören einer Ballade. Neben dem Tanz stellt May Twelfth melodische, polyphone Gesänge als treibende Kraft in den Mittelpunkt, begleitet von Harfe und Leier.

May Twelfth is simultaneously a dance performance and a band concert. One could also understand it as a concert of songs and dances or a dance performance that is curious about the concept of „bandness“.

May Twelfth explores the more conceptual and performative elements of live music performance. How does a band “perform” itself? How are intimacy, virtuosity, failure, and collectivity produced in a concert situation? The dances evolve out of these ideas. With a dedicating to the corporeal, the movement material takes inspiration from rockstars throwing themselves around the stage, to audience interactions in concerts to more emotional shared moments while listening to a ballade. Next to dance, May Twelfth centers melodic polyphonic voice as its driving force with harp and lyre accompaniment.
